I am fascinated about goals setting and achieving them. Setting goals-long term as well as short term goals, give control over my life. My life has completely changed once I learnt the scientific method of goal setting. A lot of good work has been done on this subject and well-written literature on this subject is also available on the net. Though I am an amateur runner but am passionate about endurance running. One day like any other day I got up early and went for my running practice. I was in loose full track pant and t-shirt. I usually carry my mobile while running. I put my mobile in one of the pockets of my track pant. I carry the mobile to track my pace during practice. But that day whenever I tried to increase my pace the mobile would start hanging up and down due to the loose track pant. I really got irritated. Take simple steps, unlearn things that are not necessary and learn things that are important to achieve goals and to make life simpler. There are many things which we have learnt. Power of daily contribution in the pursuit of goals, I could realize while I was preparing for my first marathon. At the same time, I was also working on my first book. During the process I could realize-I won’t say I have discovered something amazing as all the successful people do it- that only game changer in your accomplishment of a goal is a daily contribution.  Once we realize it, we will find that any goal, however difficult it seems, is achievable.  A castle cannot be built in a day. We all know that one of the qualities we need to succeed in life is Positive attitude. When everything goes well, keeping ourselves positive and optimistic is not a big deal. But the real challenge and test of our mettle are when nothing goes well. When nothing seems to be in control, when every action backfires, when it seems we are at the nadir of our life when there is no room to go down, then it is time to show, we are mentally tough, we are emotionally grown up, we are the powerhouse. We are the best creation of God. We have the ability to make our life significant. We have goals to achieve. This could all be possible only if we are optimistic. Make monthly resolutions as you make yearly rsolutions

Like many people, I love making new resolutions. Today is the first day of a new month. Isn’t it exciting to make a new resolution for a month? But when I first thought of a monthly resolution my mind rejected it. One month, only one month what could i achieve in one month. I set a goal of losing weight of 10-12 pounds, year after year without ever achieving it. How is it possible to do it in one month? My dream list includes the purchase of a new home, a new car; it includes exotic vacations with my family. My dream list also includes substantial built of a portfolio in paper assets; it also includes completing my first book. It also includes running ultra-marathon. There are career-related dreams. All these long term dreams would take at least many months together if not years, hence it does not count a month. This was my thinking earlier but now, when I set daily goals, a month provides me with an opportunity to 30 times more than my daily time available to work on my dreams. There…

Do you have a proper plan of action to achieve your goals?

The next step of set goal and how to achieve is having a proper plan of action. The previous day I was talking to a person. In the discussion, he revealed that he wants to purchase a car that costs about 40 times what is his present income. ‘Do you think his goal is achievable?’ I do think his goal is achievable but I think the plan he has is a bit challenging. It’s all about affordability. His goal will take a too long time to be achieved. Else he needs to have different plan-a plan to increase his earning capacity. He needs to earn more to afford that car. This is one of the reasons for failure to achieve the desired goal. You will not reach the destination if your vehicle is not suitable. When I ask people about their dreams, they will usually tell big dreams like owning Mercedes Benz, Ferrari etc. but what is unfortunate is they don’t have any proper plan of action. Be aware of your dreams and Goals

Yesterday, I was with a group of 5 young executives, who was working for the last 5 years in one of the reputed banks of this country. I asked them, “Do you know what the difference between dreams and goals is?” Surprisingly, they answered in negative. They are among the top 10 per cent of the population when it comes to earning. I know they are hardworking and bright and in a couple of years, they will be handling important assignments like in-charge of the branch. So, I was expecting them to know regarding dreams and goals.
